Join our vision for children's education
A world with education for all
We believe in every child’s right to a quality, safe, inclusive and transformational education that empower children for life. A child’s right to education entails the right to learn. Yet, for too many children across the African continent, schooling does not lead to learning. Children are deprived of education for various reasons. Poverty remains one of the most obstinate barriers. Children living through economic fragility, political instability, conflict or natural disaster are more likely to be cut off from schooling as are those with disabilities, or from ethnic minorities. In some countries, education opportunities for girls remain severely limited. Even in schools, a lack of trained teachers, inadequate education materials and poor infrastructure make learning difficult for many students. Others come to class too hungry, ill or exhausted from work or household tasks to benefit from their lessons.

Education
Every child has the right to learn.
We love the way Jesus cared for the poor and oppressed, showing us how to listen to children and look out for widows and orphans.
- Where possible, we partner with local churches, equipping them to meet community needs.
- As a Christian organisation, we serve ALL people, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or creed.
- We are privileged to be welcomed into many communities where Christianity is a minority faith or barely present at all.
- In accordance with our Code of Conduct, we never require a profession of faith in exchange for services.
- Our hope is to reflect the unconditional and transformational love of Jesus Christ in culturally appropriate ways.
Our transformational development approach is holistic instead of focusing on a single issue, we look at all the interconnected areas that affect the well-being of vulnerable children in a community. We work with families, chiefs/head of communties, partners and communities to address complex challenges, ensuring that children enjoy good health, are educated for life, experience the love of God and their neighbours, and are cared for, protected, and participating.
Why focus on Girls' Education?
Without a quality education, children face significant barriers to employment later in life. They are more likely to suffer from health problems and less likely to participate in decisions that affect them, compromising their ability to shape a better future for themselves and society. The barriers to girls’ education are numerous. Some must work to help their families or stay home to care for younger siblings. Other girls simply cannot afford school fees or school. Education offers girls the opportunity to earn a better salary, raise healthier and more educated children, and make their voices heard in their communities. An extra year of primary school is an asset for girls.

Take Action - Get Involved
We are making progress. But there’s more to be done. All children have the right to a safe, inclusive and quality health environment. We want all children to be healthy for life, in a safe and nurturing environment, in order to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Find volunteer or giving opportunities that use your time, resources, and talents to help children and families around the world.

Our approaches to Change
For over six years, the organization has donated school supplies and school bags to rural primary schools, and more than 4,300 primary school-aged children from eight communities in Central Africa and three communities in Southeast Africa have benefited from these donations. We are making progress. We work hard to reach the most vulnerable children such as those in extreme poverty, with disabilities, out-of-school children, and affected by crises. Our approach fits and adapts continuously to diverse and rapidly changing contexts across the continent of Africa.
Poverty, discrimination and exploitation keep millions of girls out of school. What’s more, half of all girls in developing countries don’t even finish primary school. This represents a very limited future for not only millions of girls but entire communities and countries.
What Services Do We Offer?
The Source of Life for Children Foundation works to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged and hardest to reach. We strive to help children survive, thrive, and achieve their potential across the African continent. We provide and advocate for education, health, and nutrition services.
